Sarah Fillier had a pair of goals, Maggie Connors added one and Annie Kuehl had the first of her career as Princeton's eighth-ranked women's hockey team completed the New York capital region sweep, stopping RPI 4-1 Saturday in Troy, N.Y.
The win improves to Princeton to 7-2 on the season overall and 5-2 in the ECAC Hockey League heading into next weekend's visit from current No. 5/5 Clarkson Friday at 6 p.m. and St. Lawrence Saturday at 3 p.m.Â
Friday's game will be Black Out Baker, with the first 500 fans receiving a Black Out Baker t-shirt.
Princeton opened the scoring when Kuehl fired in a rebound with less than five minutes to go in the opening period for her first career goal.
Maggie Connors followed Kuehl three minutes later with another rebound goal.
Sarah Fillier had both goals in the second period, first firing from just inside the blue line for a 3-0 lead with nine-plus minutes to go until the second ice cut.
Fillier followed it about six minutes later, scoring after Carly Bullock, who had assists on all four goals, was knocked down by an Engineer skater on a breakaway. Fillier kept it going, picking up the loose puck and sending it in for a 4-0 lead.
RPI's Blake Orosz spoiled the shutout with less than four minutes to go on a night that saw Princeton outshoot the Engineers on goal 59-11.
