PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Track and Field teams will host the Princeton Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 16) at Jadwin Gym.
Â
The field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with the weight throw while the 60m hurdles start the running events at 11 a.m.
Â
Both teams sent competitors to the FastTrack National Invitational and BU Valentine Invitational last weekend.
Â
At the FastTrack Invite, the women dominated the mile, taking home three of the top five runners, highlighted by Alie Fordyce's 4:45.23, ninth fastest in program history. Anna Jurew won the 800m contest with a 2:09.37.
Â
During the BU Invitational, Gillian Wagner (20th) had the top time in the 3,000m outing for Princeton (9:29.50) while Melia Chittenden secured a 9:29.954 (22nd), which obliterated her previous best by close to 10 seconds.
Â
Adam Kelly placed second at the 112th Millrose Games in the weight throw (22.53m), which was his best throw since February of 2017. He finished behind Conor McCullough (23.24), who was the top American in the hammer throw at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Kelly toppled Rudy Winkler, another 2016 Olympian (22.10).
Â
Jesse Thibodeau won the long jump at the FastTrack Invite, matching his personal high (7.31m). At the Valentine Invite, Greg Sholars posted a top-10 finish in a 203-person field (200m), running a 21.63, tied for the fourth quickest in indoor program history. It's also the second best among Ivy foes this winter.
Â
After this weekend, the Tigers head to Boston for Ivy Heps (Feb. 23-24). The women's team placed sixth last year while the men's squad won its fourth straight indoor conference heptagonal championship and 21st overall indoor title in 2018.
