2019 Season Gets Started at George Mason for Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2019 season will get underway this week for the Princeton Tigers at George Mason (Mar. 1-3).
Princeton went 10-27 last season and 7-14 in the Ivy League. Some highlights include the squad's first victory over Rutgers since 2011 and the team taking a series over Columbia for the first since in seven years.
Some top returners include Taylor Beckett (.269/.352/.387), Joseph Flynn (.235/.296/.353) and Conor Nolan (.252/.364/.387). Flynn (25) and Nolan (22) were the top two guys in RBI production while Nolan also led the squad in stolen bases with six.
The pitching staff features Ryan Smith, who made 10 starts in 2018, striking out 52 in 48 innings. Eli Kimbell was one of the top relievers in the Ivy League, producing a 2.43 ERA with 38 punch outs in 29 2/3 innings and two saves.
George Mason is 4-2 this season with victories over Iowa, Marshall Villanova and Winthrop. Last season, the Patriots went 29-27 and 16-8 in the Atlantic-10, reaching the conference championship game. In the team's six games this year, Brady Acker leads with a .316 batting average while Greg Popatak II's .951 OPS paces the Patriots' offense. George Mason's pitching staff was secured a 3.98 ERA to this point.
These two squads have never met prior to this weekend. Each game will be streamed on ESPN+.
