PRINCETON, N.J. – Another busy weekend is on tap for the Princeton track teams as they head to Staten Island and Boston.
Â
Adam Kelly will participate in the 112th New York Road Runners Millrose Games on Thursday in the weight throw. Kelly has the eighth furthest throw in the country (22.19m). Joey Daniels will run in the 60m hurdles event at the Clemson Paw Invitational on Friday as well. His 7.87 at HYP is 31st in the nation for the 60m hurdles.
Â
Both squads have the FastTrack National Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday (Feb. 8) and BU Valentine Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 9).
Â
The women's squad placed third at the Sykes and Sabock Challenge Cup last Saturday at Penn State. The 4x400 team (Baron, Hilditch, Willingham and Bonnet) had third fastest time (3:45.76) in indoor history. Isabella Hilditch set a personal-best in the 60m hurdles (8.59), the third quickest time ever. Luisa Chantler Edmond's 16.86m weight throw moved her into sixth in program history while Ellen Scott-Young's 16.46m throw put her eighth on that list.
Â
The men's unit was second at the Harvard Invitational last Friday despite having just seven competitors compared to first place Monmouth's 26. Dayo Abeeb crushed his best triple jump mark with a 15.29m, winning the event. He also moved into the top-10 all-time as his jump puts him eighth. C.J. Licata demolished a career-best with an 18.0m shot put, earning a victory among 13 competitors. On his third throw, Licata reached the mark that now places him seventh in indoor history. Jeffrey Hollis took home the high jump event (2.14m), just shy of his personal-best (2.15m).
At the Villanova Invite, Greg Sholars qualified for the 60m final by winning his heat with a 6.94 while Daniel Afolabi also sprinted his way into the final with a 6.90. In the final, Afolabi matched that mark and Sholars finished with a 6.91, a new personal-best. Cole Bransford won his heat in the 400m contest, posting a 50.29. In the 60m hurdles preliminaries, Taraje Whitfield won his portion (8.372) by eight one-thousands of a second. He later placed second in the finals securing a time of 8.28.
