Princeton To Go On Seven-Game, Six-Day Road Trip

PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2019 season continues for the Princeton Tigers on the road as they travel to Georgetown, Richmond and Old Dominion for a six-day trip featuring seven games.
Princeton battles Georgetown in a four-game set (Mar. 15-17) before one contest at Richmond (Mar. 18) and two more at Old Dominion (Mar. 19-20). The Tigers did this trip last season, splitting with Georgetown (2-2), dropping a contest at Richmond before the Old Dominion series got cancelled because of weather. Princeton is 43-46-2 all-time against Georgetown, 11-13 against Richmond and 9-8 against Old Dominion.
The Tigers lost four contests to UNCG last weekend and sit at 1-6. Overall, Princeton has four starters hitting at least .300 highlighted by Jake Boone's .370. Boone has posted a .370/.419/.519 slash line, also leading the squad in slugging and total bases (14). Nadir Lewis has had a stellar start to his collegiate career with a .308/.424/.462 line, adding two stolen bases as well. Ryan Smith has allowed one earned run in 12 innings with 16 strikeouts.
Georgetown is 3-12 in 2019 securing victories over George Washington, Sacred Heart and St. Joe's. Eddie McCabe is hitting an impressive .393 while Ryan Davis has an OPS of 1.085, led by a .656 slugging percentage. Richmond is 8-3, taking down Georgia State, No. 17 Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Bowling Green and Rider. In 2018, the Spiders won 32 games, their most since 2007. Richmond has three starters with an OPS over 1.000 with Tyler Plantier (1.019) pacing the offense. Jordan Schulefand is hitting .400 in 45 at-bats while four Spiders have at least 20 total bases.
Old Dominion is 12-3 this season including a 10-2 mark at home. The Monarchs have wins over High Point, Binghamton, Norfolk State, VMI, Rutgers, Campbell, Kansas State and William and Mary. Last year, ODU went 15-37 and 7-22 in Conference USA. Kyle Battle is the Monarchs' best hitter at .383, producing eight extra-base hits and a team-best 17 RBI. Nick Pantos has been the top starter for Old Dominion, giving up one earned run in 24 2/3 frames.
After this road trip, Princeton starts at Ivy League play at Clarke Field against Dartmouth (Mar. 23-24).
