Aririguzoh Earns All-Ivy League Tournament Honors
March 17, 2019 | Men's Basketball
Following a career-high 24-point performance Saturday against Yale in the Ivy League Tournament semifinal, junior Richmond Aririguzoh has been named to the Ivy League All-Tournament Team.
It is Aririguzoh's first such honor. In Princeton's previous Ivy League Tournament appearance in 2017, current senior Myles Stephens and Steven Cook '17 were named to the team.
Aririguzoh reset his career scoring best six times this season after beginning the year with nine points as high best in his first two years as a Tiger. Against Yale, the eventual winner of the Ivy League's automatic NCAA Tournament bid following Sunday's final, Aririguzoh shot 8 for 11 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.
The honor caps a breakout season for the second-team All-Ivy League honoree, who was the only Tiger to start all 28 games. He averaged 25.9 minutes a game after averaging 7.8 over his first two seasons, shot .693 from the field after shooting .551 over his first two seasons, shot .758 from the line after .447 his first two seasons, rebounded 6.4 a game after 1.5 over his first two seasons, and averaged 12.1 points a game after averaging 2.3 over his first two seasons. The .693 shooting clip was the second-best in program history for any player with at least 150 field goal tries.
Joining Aririguzoh on the all-tournament team were Penn's AJ Brodeur, Harvard's Bryce Aiken, and Yale's Miye Oni and Most Outstanding Player Alex Copeland.
