UCF Tops Princeton in Final Game of Florida Trip
March 20, 2019 | Softball
The final game of the spring trip to Florida went to Central Florida, as the Knights beat the Princeton softball team 8-1.
A four-run second inning got the Knights the 4-0 lead on four hits, a walk, a sac fly and a passed ball. Princeton got on the board after Alex Viscusi drew a leadoff walk in the third and, after a base hit and a sacrifice, Allison Harvey brought her home with a sacrifice fly. But, UCF answered in the bottom half of the inning leadoff base hit and a Takiya London RBI double pushed UCF's lead to 5-1.
The UCF lead grew to 5-1 in the fourth on two hits and a sacrifice fly, and the Knights added two in the sixth on an Erin Emanuel solo homer, an error and an RBI base hit from Cassady Brewer.
Leadoff hitter Megan Donahey went 3 for 3 with three singles just three days after she went 4 for 4 against Towson. Wednesday's performance lifted Donahey's season average to .341.
The Tigers will head home to begin Ivy League play Saturday with two against Yale beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Class of 1895 Field before the teams return to '95 for one Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
