Princeton's Bats Break Out In Game 2 Win Over Harvard

Harvard took game one, 5-3, but Princeton's offense exploded for 13 hits and three home runs in a 16-9 victory in game two.

The Tigers registered the first run of the contest as Ramzi Haddad started his own two-out rally. He singled through the right side, stole second and scampered home on a single down the right field line from Joseph Flynn.
Chad Minato tied the game with a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning. Princeton retook the lead in the fifth on a wild pitch that scored Flynn.
Ryan Smith retired eight of nine hitters between the fourth and sixth frames. An unearned run for Harvard evened the game at 2-all in the seventh.
Harvard took the lead with three unearned runs on two fielding errors in the eighth stanza. The Tigers loaded the bases with no out in the ninth, but could only produce a sacrifice fly.
Taylor Beckett and Haddad had two hits each for Princeton while Flynn snagged two RBI. Smith struck out a career-best 11 hitters in 7 1/3 innings.

The Tigers' first at-bat was early preview for the rest of the contest as they registered three runs, highlighted by RBI singles from Nadir Lewis and Beckett. Chris Davis added on with another run-producing hit in the next frame. Two more runs circled the bases in the third stanza before Max West broke open the game in the fourth …
Following the grand slam, the Tigers continue to pile on, recording three more runs, led by Lewis' RBI double. When the inning ended, the Tigers scored seven times and had a 13-run advantage.Princeton 10, Harvard 0 | T4

Five players for Princeton had multi-hit games with Lewis and Flynn pacing the group with three each. West had four RBI while Flynn and Lewis combined for six more. The Tigers had six extra-base hits and eight walks. The Tigers' 16 runs were the most they scored since a 25-7 victory over Brown on Apr. 10, 2016.Princeton 16, Harvard 9 | E8
