PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers wrap up the regular season with a trip to Brown (Mar. 8) and Yale (Mar. 9) this weekend.
Â
Tip-off for the Brown game will get underway at 7 p.m., while the Yale contest gets started at 5 p.m. The Tigers are tied with Penn at the top of the Ivy League (10-2). Â
Isalys Quinones – After a 22-point outing against Princeton in the first meeting, Quinones was just 3-of-14 shooting against the Tigers last Friday, producing eight points. The Tigers allowed just six baskets in the second half as it gave up 19 points in the final 20 minutes.
Â
Harvard's Offense – After giving up 13 treys in the first matchup in Cambridge, Princeton forced Harvard to go 6-of-26 from the three-point line (23.1 percent) on Saturday. Katie Benzan was 1-of-9 and Madeline Raster was the only Crimson player to make more than one three-pointer.
Â
The Class of 2019 – Following two more wins last weekend, Princeton's trio of Gabrielle Rush, Sydney Jordan and Qalea Ismail has 81 victories in four years along with 43 in Ivy action. The group will look for its second consecutive Ivy League regular season and Ivy Tournament crowns in the upcoming weeks.
Â
On to Yale and Brown …
Â
Brown's Defense – Currently on an 11-game losing streak, Brown sits at the bottom in the Ivy League in field goal percentage defense (43.2) and scoring defense (78.1). During that streak, the Bears have allowed 80 or more points eight times including 93 to Princeton. The Tigers shot 50.0 percent from the floor including 22-of-40 (55.0 percent) in the second half in a win over the Bears.
Â
Roxy Barahman – The Ivy League leader in points per game (18.8) because Bella Alarie doesn't have enough games to qualify yet, Barahman has produced four double-digit point outings since Yale's win over Princeton. In her last four performances, she is 2-of-13 from deep and shooting just 34 percent. When these two squads squared up in February, the junior was sensational with 33 points (11-of-18) including six treys.
Â
Princeton's Offense – The Tigers' 70.1 points per game would be its highest mark since 2015-16. That group, which became the first Ivy unit to make the NCAA Tournament as an at-large bid, had three players (Michelle Miller '16, Alex Wheatley '16 and Annie Tarakchian '16) average double-figures. This year's group features the same with Bella Alarie (22.7), Carlie Littlefield (13.3) and Gabrielle Rush (12.) Alarie's 22.7 points per game would break the single-season record while Rush's 80 treys are also the third most in a single campaign. A burden of consistency, Littlefield has scored at least 10 points in 10 of 12 Ivy matchups.
