Princeton Prepped For Final Home Weekend of Season

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers wrap up the home portion of the 2018-19 schedule with contests vs. Dartmouth (Mar. 1) and Harvard (Mar. 2).

Before we look at the final home weekend of the season, let's take another look at the Penn contest …

Slow Start – Unlike the first time these two teams met, Princeton rattled off 10-of-12 after Penn scored the first basket of the game. The Tigers led 15-12 after 10 minutes after trailing by seven following the first quarter in the matchup in January. Â

Phoebe Sterba – Sterba dropped in 21 points in the first meeting, but was held to just six points and two baskets on Tuesday. She came into the game vs. Princeton with consecutive double-digit performances, but was made a non-factor.

Gabrielle Rush – The senior added 13 points, knocking down three from beyond the arc. She moved into ninth all-time (175) in program history in three-pointers made, one shy of eighth.

And now on to Dartmouth and Harvard …

Isalys Quinones – The Dartmouth senior was outstanding against Princeton as the two squads squared up in Hanover a few weeks ago. She posted 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting including three treys and six rebounds. In Ivy action, Quinones has averaged 15.2 points and is shooting 46.8 percent from deep, securing eight double-digit point outings.

Harvard' Offense – Since losing to Princeton at home, the Crimson have won three straight, scoring 87.0 points per game and averaging 9.6 three-pointers per contest. Harvard is 69th in the nation (71.8) in scoring and sits 13th (9.3) in three-pointers. Katie Benzan is fourth in the NCAA in treys per game (3.57), but was only 1-of-7 against Princeton. The Crimson hit 13 long-range buckets against the Tigers in Cambridge.

The Class of 2019 – Prior to the game before Harvard, Princeton will honor its three seniors, Gabrielle Rush, Sydney Jordan and Qalea Ismail. The trio has won 79 games, producing a .692 winning percentage, while winning 78 percent of their Ivy League contests. The Class of 2019 won the 2018 Ivy League Regular Season Championship and the Ivy Tournament title and was part of the first team in conference history to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
