PROVIDENCE -Â Princeton had a balanced offensive attack with four players in double figures as it ran by the Brown Bears, 88-68, at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Friday evening.
Â
Carlie Littlefield led the Tigers with a career-high 23 points, adding six rebounds. Bella Alarie secured her 32nd career double-double, posting 19 points, a game-high 14 rebounds, along with four steals, three blocks and three assists. Taylor Baur recorded her first career double-double with career highs in points (13) and rebounds (13).
Â
Princeton ran off eight of the first 10 points and eventually pushed their lead to double-digits (14-4) after two free throws from Littlefield at the 3:28 mark of the first quarter. Princeton held Brown to three baskets in the first 10 minutes, taking an 18-6 advantage.
Â
The Tigers led by as many 20 in the second frame before taking a 42-24 lead into the break. Princeton was 8-of-16 from the floor (50 percent) in the quarter, dropping in 24 points. Littlefield had 15 points of her 23 in the first half to lead all scorers.
Â
Head coach Courtney Banghart's group pushed its margin to as large as 32 in the second half and was never threatened.
Â
Shayna Mehta had a game-high 27 points for Brown in the loss.
Â
Princeton (19-9 overall, 11-2 Ivy) has won five straight against Brown (9-20, 1-12 Ivy) and has lost just three times to the Bears since Jan. of 2005. Tonight was the Tigers' ninth straight win and 18th in their last 20 games.
Â
Princeton will look to clinch its 14th Ivy League title in program history tomorrow (Mar. 9) against the Yale Bulldogs (5 p.m.). Since Harvard defeated Cornell tonight, if Princeton and Penn finish with the same record, the Tigers will earn the No. 1 seed in the 2019 Ivy League Tournament.
