Lightweight Women Get Early Postseason Tuneup During Knecht Cup Weekend
April 11, 2019 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
KNECHT CUP SCHEDULE l NATIONAL POLL
The third-ranked Princeton women's lightweight rowing team, coming off an impressive win over Radcliffe last weekend on the Charles River, will travel to Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J., to compete in the 2019 Knecht Cup regatta. This will provide head coach Paul Rassam and the Tigers an early test prior to both the Eastern Sprints and the IRA Championships over the next two months.
Princeton, whose only loss this season came by a narrow margin to reigning national champion Stanford, will get another opportunity at the top-ranked Cardinal, as well as #2 Boston University, #4 Radcliffe and #5 Georgetown during the weekend. The Tigers will also send out several fours over the weekend, as they also test themselves before the postseason.
The level of opposition won't be the only postseason tuneup for Princeton, though. The Knecht Cup opens Saturday on Cooper River, but the finals will mostly be held Sunday (see full schedule above). This will mirror the multi-day IRA Championships, which are held May 30-June 1 in Sacramento.
Princeton earned medals in both the V8+ and V4+ finals at the 2018 Knecht Cup.
