Princeton at Miami and Rider This Weekend

The Princeton track & field teams will split its squad, sending a contingent to Florida for the Miami Hurricane Invitational while keeping another group close to home for the Rider Invitational.

The Princeton women's squad won five events, set an Ivy League record and more than five top-10 school records at the Sam Howell Invitational. Sophomore Obiageri Amaechi had a personal best, Princeton record and Ivy League record in the discus with a 57.22 (187-9). Senior Carly Bonnet won the 400 hurdles nearly breaking 60 at 1:00.01 for a new personal best. The time moves her into fifth place on the Princeton top-10 list. Three Tigers qualified for the eight-person final of the 100 hurdlers with senior Ellie Randolph highlighting the ation with a PR of 13.80, the third best time ever clocked by a Tiger and the best since record holder Nicole Harrison in 1997. Senior Allie Klimkiewicz won steeple with a PR of 10:23.42 – the seventh best time in the Princeton records book. Senior Kerri Davidson won the triple with a jump of 12.20 (40-0.5).
On the men's side, the 4x100 set the tone for the Sam Howell Invitational as the relay opened with a meet record as the Tigers continued to pour on the wins and personal bests this afternoon at Weaver Stadium. The 4x100 of Simang'aliso Ndhlovu, Greg Sholars, Austin Carbone and Joey Daniels posted a meet record time of 40.80 with Ndlovhu going on to claim the win in the 100 flat with a PR of 10.64. Joey Daniels won the 110-meter hurdles at 13.84 while and Taraje Whitfield was the runner up in both hurdles with back-to-back PRs. Senior Jeremy Spiezio pulled double duty with a win in the unseeded 1500 at 3:53.22 before taking second in the 800 with a 1:55.08. In the final track event of the day junior Viraj Deokar won the 10k with his first sub-30 time, crossing the line at 29:34.18. Freshman Chandler Ault had a win in the javelin at 64.04 (210-1), junior Jesse Thibodeau came out on top with in the long jump at 7.37 (24-2.25), and Jeffrey Hollis claimed a win in the high jump with a 2.12 (6-11.5). In the hammer, Adam Kelly took second place with a 71.34 (234-1).
