Quakers Open Up Series With Win Over Princeton
April 12, 2019 | Baseball
A fielding error produced the first run of the game in the second inning for the Tigers. Neither team put together an another threat until the fifth frame.
Taylor Beckett opened up the at-bat with a double and move to third base on a single from Max West. Joseph Flynn let Beckett touch home on a knock to left field before a sacrifice fly put the Tigers ahead 3-0.
The home squad tied the contest with three unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth.
In the Quakers' next at-bat, they added four runs. A bunt single put the home unit ahead while a two-run single from Peter Matt made the Ivy matchup a three-run affair (6-3). A wild pitch registered Penn's seventh tally.
Princeton had the first three runners in the seventh reach base with a hit-by-pitch, error and single. The next hitter, Chris Davis, cut the Tigers' deficit in half as this double allowed Flynn and West to circle the bases.
Two batters later, David Harding floated a ball into right field that tied the meeting at 7-all.Penn 7, Princeton 5 | T7

Penn countered with a run on a fielding error in its portion of the seventh.
In the eighth inning, Penn secured seven runs on five hits and an error as Matt McGeagh's two-run double highlighted the big spot. A bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly gave the Tigers two runs in their final stanza.
Nadir Lewis and Beckett had two hits each while Davis had three RBI. Four Quakers had multi-hit performances in the win.
These two Ivy foes wrap up the series tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 11:30 a.m.
