Princeton WIns Five Events at Larry Ellis Invitational

Results
Princeton had five individual champions as it held the annual Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Stadium this afternoon.

Senior Adam Kelly won the hammer throw with a 70.75 (232-1) on his fifth attempt. All three of countable throws would have won as he was over 69 meters on all three.

Freshman Chandler Ault won yet another javelin event – this time with a 64.40 (211-3). He also had throws of 62.17 64.23, 64.14 and 64.02. Senior Ryan Ozminkowski was eighth with a mark of 45.42 (149).

In the discus, sophomore Robbie Otal had a huge PR with a 56.33 (184-9) on his final attempt. He also had throws of 50.98 and 52.26 before he pushed himself past his previous best of 52.78 (173-2) from the Texas Invitational last spring.

Sophomore Kelton Chastulik was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 17.05 (55-11.25). He also had marks of 16.30, 16.27, 16.91, 16.94 and 16.74.

Another victory came from freshman Dayo Abeeb in the triple jump. He reached 15.14(49-8.25) on his final attempt – while clearing 14.90, 15.03, 14.48 and 15.06 on his other attempts.

Princeton went 1-3-4-5 in the long jump with junior Jesse Thibodeau claiming the crown with a 7.76 (25-5.5) on his third attempt. He began with a 7.69 and passed on his final two attempts. Sophomore Gilron Tsabkevich was third with a 7.25 (23-9.5), freshman Andrei Iosivas fourth with a jump of 7.24 (23-9) and freshman Avriam Shwarzbard was fifth with a 7.18 (23-6.75).
Freshman Will Drury and junior Noah Hurley tied for third place in the pole vault as each met 4.80 (15-9). Both passed on the opening height of 4.50 and was up and over 4.65 and 4.80 on their first attempts.

Wrapping up the field events, sophomore Jeffrey Lee-Heidenreich was third in the high jump clearing 2.00 (6-6.75) on his first attempt.

Sophomore Ed Trippas won the steeplechase with a PR of 8:50.09 (38.18, 1:11.90, 1:11.13, 1:10.67, 1:12.15, 1:10.54, 1:10.84, 1:04.72). Trippas has run the steeple twice this outdoor season and each time has claimed a new personal best time – after he opened the year with an  8:51.99 at the Stanford Invitational.

In the Mike Brady Men's 1500 Elite, Â sophomore Sam Ellis and junior Conor Lundy put up personal bests. Ellis was fourth with a 3:45.92 (45.87, 1:00.91, 1:01.12, 58.04) while Lundy was fifth at 3:45.96 (45.45, 1:00.68, 1:01.75, 58.09).

Freshman Christian Brown was third in the 110 meter hurdles at 14.39 winning his heat to advance to the finals where he took second with a 14.21 – a new PR.

Another third-place finish came from junior Gab Montefalcone in the 400 hurdles as he clocked a PR of 52.56. Junior Justice Dixon was sixth with a time of 54.80.

Freshman Greg Sholars took fourth in the 200 with a 21.60 to match his own career best.

Junior Joseph McGrath took ninth in the 100 at 10.89, just off of his PR of 10.77.

Freshman Michael Phillippy had the top time for the Tigers in the 400 as he clocked 48.84 to finish in seventh place.
