Former Heavyweight Captain Augustin Wambersie Set To Stroke Oxford Sunday In The Boat Race

Former heavyweight captain Augustin Wambersie '18, who is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering at Oxford, will stroke the Oxford Blue Boat in the historic Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race Sunday. The race, which takes place on the River Thames in London, was first held in 1829. Cambridge won last year's race and holds an 83-80 overall advantage.

Wambersie, a 2018 George J. Mueller Award recipient from the School of Engineering and Applied Science, won two gold medals and a silver at the Eastern Sprints Championships, as well as a silver medal at the IRA Championships. He was 1V competitor over his last two years, and the 2018 team captain.
Several Princeton alumni have competed in the Boat Race throughout its long and prestigious history, including current U.S. national team member Patrick Eble.
