Pan American Update: Sharkey '13 and Wong '19 Help Countries Through Pool Play

LIMA, Peru – Kathleen Sharkey (United States) and Elise Wong (Canada) have helped their countries with impressive play in pool action at the Pan American Games.
Sharkey and the United States wrapped up pool play with a dominating 8-0 victory over Peru. The team opened up play with a 5-0 victory over Mexico and 4-2 comeback victory over Chile. Sharkey has scored against Peru and Chile in the tournament.
The United States will play Cuba tomorrow at 6:15 p.m. EST. Cuba went 0-3 with a goal differential of -29.
Wong and Canada started action with a dominating 10-0 victory over Cuba before a 3-0 loss to Argentina. The squad rebounded with a 5-0 decision over Uruguay.
Canada battles Mexico in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 4 p.m. EST.
Sharkey and Wong are two of the most decorated field hockey players in Princeton history. Sharkey is the program's all-time leader in points (245) and goals (107). The four-time All-American was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year (2008), Player of the Year (2010) and Offensive Player of the Year (2012). Wong was recently nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award and was finalist for the C. Otto von Kienbusch Award after a remarkable senior season that included accolades like Honda Sport Award Finalist, first-team All-American, All-Region, the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Ivy.
