The Tigers will continue the weekend with a noon match at No. 1 Harvard Sunday.
Five of the nine matches went to Princeton in 3-0 sweeps, with those wins coming from Raneem El Torky, Andrea Toth, Grace Doyle, Morgan Steelman and India Stephenson. Dartmouth pushed a Tiger player to five games only on one court, with Caroline Spahr and Jesse Brownell going the distance on court three.
The Tigers on the match:
"The team had a great match against Dartmouth today," El Torky said. "We have been working very hard since we got back on campus to be ready for the Ivy season, and seeing how everyone won today showed how all our hard work is paying off. Personally, I have been very focused lately on my mental game and I did a good job at having a good game plan before the match and following through with it. We are all extremely excited and fired up to play Harvard tomorrow and looking forward for a good fight."
"Today was our first Ivy match of the season and I'm really happy with how the team played," Steelman said. :We trained hard over winter break, so it was fun to see our hard work pay off. I can't wait for our match against Harvard tomorrow."
"Overall the team played well," Princeton coach Gail Ramsay said. "Caroline Spahr at number three had a very tough match against Jesse Brownell. Caroline was able to find a way through to the fifth game through pure determination. She started to control the play a little bit more and really worked Jesse hard and she started to feel to look tired. Caroline fought hard for the win."
