Sophomore Grant Cuomo's first win over an Intermat-ranked opponent and bonus wins from Patrick Brucki and Patrick Glory were the Princeton highlights as the 12th-ranked Tigers concluded a two-match weekend against two top-20 opponents Saturday at sixth-ranked North Carolina State.
N.C. State took the first two matches of the day, which began at 174, before Brucki took the mat for a top-10 battle against eighth-ranked Nick Reenan at 197. Picking up his third win in five tries on the season against fellow top-10 competition, Brucki won a major decision over Reenan, 13-3, to pull Princeton within 10-4.
Following an N.C. State win at heavyweight, Glory continued a theme of dominant wins this season, taking his 10th win by fall or technical fall in 13 tries with a 17-2 victory over unranked Tommy Cox. Glory's win pulled Princeton within 13-9, but N.C. State won the next four bouts to pull away.
Facing his second ranked opponent of the weekend along with North Carolina's 17th-ranked Kennedy Monday, Cuomo beat 10th-ranked Thomas Bullard 7-6 to deal Bullard just his fifth loss of the season against 18 wins. The match was Cuomo's fourth in his Tiger career against a top-20 opponent.
