No. 6 Princeton to Visit Yale, Brown This Weekend

Already with a win to their credit after the break for first-semester finals, the sixth-ranked Princeton women's hockey team will have four more ECAC Hockey League standings points on the table this weekend when the Tigers head to Yale Friday for a 6 p.m. start and Brown Saturday at 3 p.m.

Friday's game matches two of the top five teams in the ECAC standings, with Princeton tied for second at 21 points and Yale right behind, tied for fourth at 20 points.Â
Princeton's points leader on the season, Sarah Fillier, who has 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points, entered the week second in the NCAA in points per game, then at 2.00, and third in assists per game, then at 1.24. Sophomore Maggie Connors, who leads the team with 16 goals after getting one Tuesday at Quinnipiac, was fourth in goals per game, then at 0.79. As a team, the Tigers' top rankings were fifth in goals per game at 3.89 and fifth in power play percentage at .250.
Yale entered the week sixth in the nation on the penalty kill, disappointing opponents 90.7 percent of the time, while Tera Hofmann's three shutouts tied for 10th in the nation to lead Yale's individual national stat rankings. Brown's 698 saves were 12th in the nation.
Senior Claire Thompson added a goal Tuesday night and stands in fifth place on the program's list for career points by a defenseman with 78, 13 back of Laura Watt '07 (91) for fourth. Classmate Carly Bullock remains at 79 career goals to stand seventh on the program's list, eight back of Gretchen Anderson '04 (87) for sixth. Fellow senior Stephanie Neatby's 11 career shutouts are good for fourth all-time, two back of Rebecca Potter '83 (13) and three behind Rebecca Young '09 and Rachel Weber '12 (14) for the record. Neatby's 1,746 career saves have her closing in Weber's 1,787 for fifth on the program's all-time list.Â
Princeton and Yale and Brown haven't met yet this season, with the Bulldogs and Bears coming to Baker to end the regular season in late February. Princeton has won the last four against Yale, with the Bulldogs' last win in the series coming in 2017 in Baker, and the Tigers are 3-0-1 in their last four visits to New Haven, with Yale's last home win over the Tigers coming in 2015. Princeton has won 18 in a row against Brown, with Brown's last win in the series coming in 2010 at Baker, and the Tigers have won 11 in a row and are unbeaten in 13 straight since Brown's last win in Providence in 2006.
