Wright’s Career Night Guides Men's Basketball to Victory Over Brown

PRINCETON, N.J. – A career-high 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting by sophomore Ethan Wright helped guide the Princeton University men's basketball team to a 73-54 victory over Brown University Saturday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
The win moved the Tigers to 6-2 in Ivy League play, giving them a share of the top spot in the conference standings with Yale University. As a team, the Tigers shot an efficient 28-of-53 from the field for a percentage of .528.
Along with Wright's game and career-high 21 points, he also went 8-of-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. His previous career-high of 16 points came in Princeton's win over Iona College on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 inside the Barclays Center. Wright also tied the game-high in assists with four and pulled down four rebounds.
Senior Richmond Aririguzoh had a perfect night from the field, going 6-of-6 and scoring 15 points and pulling down six rebounds. Sophomore Jaelin Llewellyn also added 15 points along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
While a Wright layup with 12:15 left in the half gave Princeton a 13-10 lead, the game started out as a back-and-forth battle. With 10:00 on the clock a Wright jumper sparked a 9-0 run that also featured a layup by junior Ryan Schwieger, a pair of Aririguzoh free throws and a layup by senior Jose Morales that gave Princeton a 22-15 advantage with 7:20 remaining in the half.
A put-back dunk by Llewellyn with 5:31 left in the half extended Princeton's lead to double figures at 28-17 and the Tigers would close the half out on a 7-0 run for a 37-24 advantage at halftime.
Schwieger extended Princeton's lead to 15 points with a layup with 18:16 on the clock, then a three-point play followed by a long three-pointer from the top of the circle by Morales saw Princeton take a 52-32 lead with 12:22 on the clock.
Wright drained his third three-pointer of the night with 7:01 left to play, giving Princeton a 58-40 lead, then scored on a driving layup with 1:23 on the clock that brought his total to 21 points and the Tigers' advantage to 71-54. Princeton would then go on to prevail, 73-54.
