PRINCETON, N.J. – In its final before Heps, the Princeton University men's track & field team will host the Princeton Invitational Sunday inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
Princeton welcomes at least 23 other teams to Jadwin Gymnasium on a day where field events will begin at 10:30 a.m. and track events at 11 a.m.
Tiger Notes
Last weekend the Tigers competed at a pair of meets; the Fasttrack Invitational on Friday, February 14 inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex and the Valentine Invitational on Saturday, February 15 in Boston, Massachusetts. While there many sensational performances over the course of the two meets, there were none better than Sam Ellis' record-breaking performance in the mile at the Valentine Invitational. Ellis clocked in at 3:57.66 seconds to set a new school record, breaking the previous record of 3:58.70 seconds set by Bill Burke in 1991. Ellis also finished second overall, besting his previous PR of 4:02.93 seconds set at the Valentine Invite in 2019.
Princeton has produced several Ivy League-best performances this season. Ellis time of 2:22.26 from the HYP meet is a conference-best in the 1000 while Jeffrey Hollis' mark of 2.19 meters in the high jump from the Navy dual meet tops the Ivy League.
Simen Guttormsen's mark of 5.31 meters in the pole vault from HYP is a conference-best in the pole vault and C.J. Licata's throw of 18.97 meters in the shot put from the Princeton New Year's Invite also tops the Ivy League.
In the 800 meters, Ellis' time of 1:50.82 from the Columbia Challenge is second-fastest in the Ivy League while his 3:57.66 mile time also ranks second in the conference. In the 5000, Conor Lundy's rime of 14:00.33 from the BU Season Opener ranks second while his time of 7:58.30 in the 3000 from the Valentine Invite ranks third.
Christian Brown currently has the third-fastest time in the Ivy League in the 60 hurdles of 8.03 from the Upstate Challenge while Princeton also has the second and third best marks in the triple jump. Dayo Abeeb sits second thanks to his mark of 15.48 meters from the HYP Meet and Austin Princewill third after his leap of 15.30 meters at the Crimson Elite. Kelton Chastulik's throw of 17.44 meters in the shot put has him ranked third.
