Women’s Track & Field to Compete at Heps

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's track & field team will begin competition at the Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships Saturday in Ithaca, New York.
The championships will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. with prelims on the track and finals in the field events. On Sunday, finals will take place both on the track and in more field events at 11 a.m.
Tiger Notes
Most recently, the Tigers hosted the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, February 23 inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
Princeton has produced some of the top performances in the conference this season and will content for championships in several events. Hanne Borstlap's mark of 4.05 meters is second-best in the Ivy League.
The Tigers' 4x800 relay time of 8:55.71 from HYP is second-fastest in the Ivy League. The team consisted of Sophie Cantine, Maggie Hock, Madeleine Sumner and Caroline Timm. Princeton's 4x400 relay time of 3:42.05 is third-fastest in the conference; the team consisted of Milana Malec, Heide Baron, Arianna Smith and Ashley Willingham.
With a time of 1:14.17, Charlotte O'Toole has the second-fastest 500 time in the conference.
Princeton has two women inside the top three of the 1,000; Hock is second with a time of 2:47.49 and Sumner is third with a time of 2:48.48.
The weight throw has been a strong event for the Tigers as three student-athletes feature in the top-five. Annika Kelly is third with a mark of 18.19 meters, Luisa Chantler Edmond fourth at 18.14 meters and Ellen Scott-Young fifth at 17.26 meters
Cantine's time of 9:23.93 in the 3,000 is the third-fastest time in the Ivy League while she is fourth in the mile with a time of 4:41.49 seconds. Katie DiFrancesco is also fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.28.
Princeton has had an incredible indoor season overall and will look to carry its momentum through to Heps. A total of 17 women have garnered 27 lifetime-bests in their respective events while the team has produced 30 top-10 performances in Princeton indoor track & field history.
Ten different women have cracked the top-10 for the first time in their collegiate careers; Olivia Hee (60), Hock (1000), Kelly (weight throw), Grace Lanouette (60, 200), O'Toole (500, 4x400), Malec (300, 400, 500, 4x400), Jalah Morris (shot put), Tia Rozario (triple jump), Smith (4x400) and Hadley Wilhoite (high jump). The 4x400 relay team broke an eight-year old school record with a time of 3:42.05 and DiFrancesco lowered her school record in the 300 to 39.29.
Last Year at Heps
Princeton earned a fifth-place finishing at Heps last season with 79 points, hosted by Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Tigers' DMR squad of Peyton Brown, Allison Glossinger, Madison Offstein and Gillian Wagner won the event with a time of 11:38.16.
Princeton's DMR team was named first team All-Ivy while Hanne Bortslap and Obiageri Amaechi were named second team All-Ivy after placing second in the pole vault and shot put. Jackie Berardo (800), Anna Jurew (1,000), Offstein (3,000) and Allie Klimkiewicz (5,000) just missed out on All-Ivy honors as they finished third in their events.
