Five Finish in Double Figures as Men's Basketball Downs Columbia, 81-74

NEW YORK – With assistance from a balanced attack that featured five double digit scorers, the Princeton University men's basketball team downed Columbia University 81-74 Sunday afternoon inside Levien Gymnasium.
Helped by a 10-of-10 effort from the free throw line, sophomore Jaelin Llewellyn had a team-high 19 points along with a game-high six rebounds. Junior Ryan Schwieger finished with 18 points while also recording three rebounds and three assists. Senior Richmond Aririguzoh went 8-of-9 from the field for 16 points and off the bench sophomore Drew Friberg finished with 11 points and five rebounds while junior Jerome Desrosiers added 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulled down five rebounds.
Princeton had an efficient night from the field, going 29-of-53 for a percentage of .547. The Tigers also went 17-of-18 from the free throw line.
While it was Columbia who took an early 5-0 lead, the Tigers would jump ahead 11-9 after a Friberg pulled down an offensive rebound then went back up and finished through the foul and completed the three-point play with 11:57 remaining in the half.
Columbia managed to knot the score at 31-31 with 2:34 on the clock, but the Tigers would close the half out on a high note. Desrosiers would score eight-straight points; he knocked down jumpers with 2:17 and 1:42 remaining in the half followed then scored on a layup with 1:03 on the clock. He would add another layup after an assist by Aririguzoh with 0:27 left in the hald and Princeton would take a 39-31 advantage into halftime.
The Lions came out of the half and made it a four-point game at 45-41 with 16:00 remaining but a Friberg three-pointer with 15:22 on the clock made it a 48-41 contest.
Princeton managed to extend its lead to double-figures with 9:50 remaining after a Schwieger free throw gave the Tigers a 62-52 advantage. Columbia then cut the Tigers lead to four points at 62-58 with 7:14 on the clock but a pair of Schwieger free throws with 4:51 remaining saw Princeton take a 68-64 advantage.
A pair of Llewellyn free throws with 0:13 left to play extended Princeton's lead to nine points at 79-70 and the Tigers would then hold on for the 81-74 triumph.
