Men's Basketball Uses Balanced Attack to Overcome Columbia, 81-58

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's basketball team used a balanced attack that saw five different players score in double figures along with a season-high 15 made three-pointers to overcome Columbia University 81-58 inside Jadwin Gymnasium Friday night.
Sophomore Jaelin Llewellyn led Princeton in scoring with 12 points while sophomore Drew Friberg finished with 11. Friberg also tied the team-high in rebounds with junior Ryan Schwieger, as each had six. Seniors Richmond Aririguzoh and Jose Morales along with freshman Ryan Langborg each added 10 points for the Tigers.
Princeton's 15 three-pointers was also a season-high, topping its 13 from its 87-77 win over Bucknell University on November 30, 2019.
Llewellyn got the Tigers off to a strong start, knocking down a three-pointer with 18:09 on the clock. He would sink another with 15:11 left in the half sparked an 8-0 Princeton run that also featured a layup by Morales and a corner three-pointer by Friberg that gave Princeton a 16-4 advantage with 13:02 remaining in the half.
With 10:39 on the clock, Aririguzoh spun down the lane and finished through heavy contact then knocked down the free-throw for the three-point play, giving Princeton a 20-6 advantage. Friberg would follow with three-pointers with 10:10 and 9:37 on the clock that saw Princeton surge ahead 26-8.
Princeton closed out the half on a 10-0 run, led off by a Llewellyn three-pointer with 3:27 remaining in the half and also featuring a Morales three-point play, a pull-up jumper by Langborg and a Schwieger layup that saw the Tigers take a 42-21 advantage into halftime.
Aririguzoh continued to be a force inside early in the second half, scoring on post-ups with 18:30 and 16:15 on the clock to help the Tiger stay in front, 46-27.
Morales drained a three-pointer with 13:02 left to play that gave te Tigers a 53-34 led with 13:02 left to play then junior Jerome Desrosiers scored five-straight points, first scoring on a layup with 10:32 on the clock then on a three-pointer with 9:56 remaining in the game that gave Princeton a 60-38 lead.
Princeton used a late 8-0 run, started by a pair of Morales free-throws with 3:25 on the clock to close the game out on a high-note.
Sophomore Colby Kyle would finish a layup plus through a foul with 0:33 on the clock and Princeton would prevail with an 81-58 final score.
