In Break from Ivy Race, Tigers to Visit Lehigh Tuesday

Ahead of the final sprint through the Ivy League season, the Princeton women's soccer team will head to Lehigh on Tuesday for its final non-league game of the regular season.

On Princeton: The Tigers are 10-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the Ivy. Thirteen players, the most since 2011, have scored a goal, led by seven-goal scorer senior Gabi Juarez. In goal, lead keeper senior Grace Barbara is 7-2-1 with a 1.06 GAA. Princeton stood 28th in the nation in RPI starting the week as one of three Ivy teams in the top 30 (Brown 17, Harvard 18).Â
On Lehigh: The Mountain Hawks are 5-7-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Patriot League. Eight players, led by four-goal scorer Ava Schaller, have scored a goal this year, and Abby Trainor (2-3-1, 1.38 GAA) and Violette Bonvallet (3-3-0, 1.50 GAA) have split time in goal. Lehigh will be Princeton's third Patriot League opponent of the season, after the Tigers defeated Loyola (Md.) 2-1 in the opener in August and defeated Bucknell 6-1 last month. Lehigh fell to Loyola 1-0 last weekend and will host Bucknell next week.
Series History: Princeton leads the all-time series 22-0-1. The lone tie in the series came in 2009, and Princeton has won the last eight games, including the last three by shutout. Grace Barbara had the shutout in the 4-0 win in 2019 in Princeton, and Grace Sherman, Caroline Noonan, Tatum Gee and Gabi Juarez each had a goal in the game. Lehigh is Princeton's third-most played non-league opponent, after Rutgers (32 games) and Villanova (27).Â
Next Up:Â Princeton will head to Harvard (9-1-1, 3-1-0 Ivy) to resume Ivy League play on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Crimson were ranked No. 16 in the nation by United Soccer Coaches and took their first loss of the season last weekend against Brown. Harvard will be playing on Tuesday as well, hosting Central Connecticut State.
