Season's Seventh Shutout Helps Deliver 2-0 Win Over Lehigh
October 19, 2021 | Women's Soccer
Gabi Juarez scored the first goal and assisted on the second, and Tyler McCamey had the shutout in goal as the Princeton women's soccer team won at Lehigh 2-0 on Tuesday night for the team's seventh shutout and 11th win of the season.
The game was Princeton's last of the regular season in non-conference play. The Tigers will return to Ivy League play Saturday at Harvard in a 1 p.m. start. Both Princeton and the Crimson are one match behind Ivy leader Brown, which is the only league team to defeat either Princeton or Harvard so far this season.
McCamey made four saves for her second career shutout, and Juarez's goal was her team-best eighth of the season.
Juarez opened the scoring 10 minutes before halftime, with Tatum Gee sending a corner kick to Ryann Brown for a redirect to the front of the goal, where it met Juarez's head for an arcing trip over keeper Violette Bonvallet.
Juarez played a big role in Princeton's second goal eight minutes later as the first half wound down. Off a throw-in from Gracyn Kuerner, Juarez turned and fired from about 20 yards out and found Bonvallet's up-stretched hands. Bonvallet, though, couldn't take control of the ball, and Lily Bryant was there for the tap-in to double the lead.
