Brown Takes Battle of Ivy-Unbeaten Teams
October 09, 2021 | Women's Soccer
A goal just less than 10 minutes into the game put Brown in front, and in a battle of Ivy-unbeaten teams, the Bears held on for a 3-1 win over the Princeton women's soccer team on Saturday in Providence, R.I.
"Today's result was a disappointing one for our team," Princeton coach Sean Driscoll said. "Credit must be given to Brown for the execution of their game plan. They made it very difficult for us to consistently create any sort of rhythm when we were in the attacking half. They also capitalized on the chances they created. As always, our team fought to the bitter end and I am proud of their character and commitment. Our job now is to bounce back, learn from the experience and put this game in the rear-view mirror. Columbia will present different challenges for us and we must be prepared for what is sure to be another entertaining Ivy League game."
Goals from Brittany Raphino in the 10th minute, Kayla Duran in the 58th minute, and Ava Seelenfreund in the 63rd put the Bears up 3-0, and less than three minutes after the third goal, Princeton got on the board after Gabi Juarez drew a foul going to goal and earned a penalty kick, sending it in.

Brown, though, kept it at that, and finished off a 3-1 win that saw Princeton outshoot the Bears 9-8 overall and 6-4 on goal.
The Tigers will continue Ivy League play with a visit from Columbia next Saturday at 7 p.m. on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
