Women's Soccer Team to Host Columbia Saturday in Pivotal Ivy Weekend
October 13, 2021 | Women's Soccer
In a league that has three teams in the top 10 percent of the country in RPI rankings, and none in the bottom 100 spots in that ranking, three teams are better than even in league games entering the midpoint in Ivy play this weekend, and one of them will be at Class of 1952 Stadium on Saturday.

Princeton will celebrate the first 40 seasons in program history on Saturday, and the program has won 10 Ivy titles and made 13 NCAA tournament appearances in that time. Saturday's game will go a long way in helping add a number to each.Â
With four weeks left, Princeton stands 2-1 in the Ivy after last week's loss at Brown. The Bears will head to Harvard on Saturday, and Harvard will then welcome Princeton next Saturday as the Ivy title picture begins to clear.Â
On Princeton: The Tigers are 9-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy. Thirteen players, the most since 2011, have scored a goal, led by seven-goal scorer senior Gabi Juarez. In goal, lead keeper senior Grace Barbara is 6-2-1 with a 1.19 GAA. Princeton stood 31st in the nation in RPI starting the week.
On Columbia: The Lions are 7-4-1 overall and 1-2 in the Ivy. Seven players, led by five-goal scorer Nata Ramirez, have scored a goal this year, and Paige Nurkin is the team's lead keeper with an 0.80 GAA. Columbia stands 70th in the country in RPI and is one of five Ivy teams in the top 100 in that metric.
Series History: Princeton leads the all-time series 22-8-5. Current senior Amy Paternoster had the lone goal in Princeton's 1-0 win at Columbia in 2018, and current Lions sophomore Shira Cohen had Columbia's goal in a 1-1 draw in Princeton in 2019.
Next Up:Â Princeton will head back out on the road for two next week, first on Tuesday at Lehigh in the team's final non-conference game of the regular season and then at Harvard on Saturday as Ivy play resumes.
