Men’s Track & Field Opens Season at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – In its first outdoor meet since the 2018-19 season, the Princeton University men's track & field had a strong showing in its return to official competition, highlighted by three program all-time top-10 marks by freshmen.
"We are extremely pleased with our performances today," said William M. Weaver Jr. '34 Head Coach of Men's Track & Field Fred Samara. "The excellent results shows how hard the guys have worked over the past few months. Thanks to all the administrators involved in making the meet happen today, it meant a lot to our student-athletes to finally get on the track."
Daniel Duncan had a stellar debut at the collegiate level, earning a pair of all-time school top-10 times. He finished the 200 in 21.20, fifth all-time in school history and the 100 in 10.61, the ninth-fastest time in school history. Simang'Aliso Ndhlovu also ran in the 100 and 200, clocking in at 10.61 and 21.66.
William Cauley also wasted no time in making an impact at the next level, as his mark of 59.46 meters in the hammer throw was the 10th-furthest in school history. He was joined in the hammer throw by Paul Brennan, whose furthest throw went 57.71 meters. Cauley also competed in the shot put and had a top-mark of 11.97 meters. Kelton Chastulik and Brennan also threw 16.32 meters and 14.20 meters.
Brennan and Cauley also competed in the discus, recording marks of 44.46 meters and 38.11 meters.
Ladislav Töpfer and William Doyle also made their debuts for the Tigers, clocking in at 47.75 and 47.48 in the 400. In the 110 hurdles, Taraje Whitfield finished in 14.75 and Jovan Aigbekaen in 14.96. Whitfield also ran in the 400 hurdles, finishing in 54.10.
Princeton also had five student-athletes debut in the 800; Ethan Reese (1:53.13), Jordan Kaplan (1:54.96), Joe Fast (1:58.59), Jack Kenkel (2:01.23) and Nathan Tavakolian (2:04.72).

The Tigers will travel to Coach Richard Wackar Stadium on the campus of Rowan University to compete in the Fast Times Before Finals on meet on Saturday, May 1 at 11 a.m.
