Balanced Attack Leads Men’s Basketball to 74-64 Triumph Over Penn

PRINCETON, N.J. – With assistance from four double figure scorers and an 11-0 run in the first half, the Princeton University men's basketball team moved to 4-0 in Ivy League play Monday afternoon inside Jadwin Gymnasium, following a 74-64 victory over the University of Pennsylvania.
The triumph moved Princeton to 11-0 at home in 2021-22, and was the Tigers' ninth-straight victory.
Senior Ethan Wright led the way, finishing with a game-high 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting, along with five rebounds. Sophomore Matt Allocco added 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while senior Jaelin Llewellyn finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Senior Drew Friberg went 4-for-7 from the field and scored 10 points, and junior Tosan Evbuomwan ended the evening with nine points, a team-high six rebounds, a game-high five assists, along with a game-high three steals.
As a team, the Tigers went 26-for-54 from the field (48.1%), and 14-for-17 from the free throw line (82.4%).
The Tigers took a 7-6 lead with 16:15 on the clock following a Friberg three-pointer from the right corner, but the Quakers battled back and used a 6-0 run to take a 14-19 lead with 12:48 on the clock.
A Llewellyn three in transition at 11:25 sparked an 11-0 run that saw surge the Tigers surge ahead, 22-17, following an Evbuomwan layup with 9:03 remaining in the half. Back-to-back Evbuomwan baskets, including a powerful one-handed slam at 3:50 kept Princeton in front, 32-25, and the Tigers would take a 34-28 advantage into halftime.

The Quakers made it a four-point game at 51-47 with 12:52 remaining, but an Evbuomwan layup at 8:34 led off a 6-0 run that gave Princeton a 57-49 lead with 6:44 left to play following a Wright three-point play.
