No. 9 Colgate Gets Past Tigers, 3-1
January 29, 2022 | Women's Ice Hockey
No. 9 Colgate scored in the early minutes of the game, provided a quick answer to Princeton's goal in the second period, and added an empty netter to hold off the Princeton women's hockey team on Saturday night at Baker Rink.
Eleri MacKay had Colgate's first goal as a shot along the goal line found its way in, giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead three minutes in. It stayed there through the first intermission, but Princeton answered just less than eight minutes into the second when Stef Wallace took a shot from the top of the circle to the left of Colgate netminder Kayle Osborne and Annie Kuehl was there for the tip-in to tie the game.
The tie was short-lived, as Colgate's Sydney Bard sent a pass through the slot that found teammate Rosy Demers skating toward the right post, and Demers put it away to restore a one-goal lead for Colgate 71 seconds after Kuehl tied it up.
With Princeton pressing for the tie in the closing minutes, Colgate added an empty-net goal from Kalty Kaltounkova for the 3-1 final.
Princeton will head to RPI on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. rescheduled game as the ECAC Hockey slate continues.
