The Princeton women's cross-country team is set to compete in the 2022 Ivy League Cross Country Championship on Friday, October 28th at Van Cortlandt Park.
Located in the Bronx, in New York City, the park is home to the Columbia Lions, who will be hosting this year's championship. The park has been considered one of the most difficult courses in the country due to its' steep terrain and many hills. The Tigers have proven all season long that they are not a team to shy away from a challenge, and are prepared to hit the ground running on Friday.
It is always a battle among each of the Ivy League programs at the Heptagonal Championships, but notably this year, Harvard will be a fierce competitor for the Lady Tigers to take on. The Harvard women were previously ranked inside the Top-20 this season and are the 2021, defending Ivy League Champions.
The Tigers have raced against several, nationally ranked opponents this fall, and Friday will be another great opportunity for the team to represent Princeton among the best in Van Cortlandt park.
At last year's championship race, the Princeton women finished second as a team, and Fiona Max had a standout performance. Max finished in second place in 2021 with a time of 20.26.4 and was named First-Team All-Ivy.
"The best part of the season has finally arrived! We are excited to be competing for an Ivy League Championship at historic Van Cortlandt Park with the support of friends, family and proud Princeton alums", said head coach Brad Hunt. "This is a well prepared group, full of confidence and experience, heading into the championship season. Simply put, there is nothing quite like the Heps."
The Princeton women will start their 6k race at 11 am before the men race at 12 pm.
