It's Senior Day and the final athletic event of Homecoming Weekend. Bedford Field will be an emotional place regardless. Then throw in the significance of what's at stake, and it becomes an even bigger Sunday for Princeton field hockey.

The Tigers will host Brown Sunday at noon in a game with championship and postseason prizes at stake. Princeton comes in after its huge 4-2 win over Harvard, a victory that put the Tigers in striking distance of the Ivy title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Five storylines

What's at stake
A Princeton win over Brown (or next week at Columbia) would guarantee the Tigers no worse than a share of the Ivy League championship and the Ivy League's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Princeton would also win both prizes with a Cornell win over Harvard Saturday morning. To win an outright Ivy title, Princeton needs any combination of wins and Harvard losses that equals two.

It is still mathematically possible for there to be a four-way tie for the Ivy League championship (or a three-way tie). There is no way for Princeton to finish in a tie (two-way, three-way or four-way) and not get the league's automatic NCAA tournament berth.

Senior Day
Princeton has eight seniors who have combined for 353 games started at Princeton. This group is playing for a second Ivy title and has already reached two NCAA Final Fours, including one championship game.

The eight members of the Class of 2022 are: Gabby Andretta, Ophelie Bemelmans, Autumn Brown, Hannah Davey, Claire Donovan, Ali McCarthy, Sammy Popper and Zoe Sheppard.

Scoring Offense
Princeton and Brown rank 1-2 in the Ivy League in scoring offense. Princeton, at 3.2 goals per game, is also seventh in Division I.

There will be five of the top 10 goal scorers in the Ivy League on Bedford Field for this game. Princeton has Beth Yeager (first), Sammy Popper (fifth) and Sam Davidson (seventh), while Brown has Lexi Pellegrino (second) and Lucy Adams (10th).

Rankings
Princeton is ranked seventh by the NFHCA and is sixth in the RPI. Princeton has wins over two teams in the Top 10 of RPI (No. 2 Maryland, No. 7 Syracuse), as well as four wins over teams in the top 16 (No. 13 UConn, No. 16 Harvard) and another win against No. 21 Rutgers.
