Series vs. Penn: Princeton leads the all-time series with Penn 21-10-4, has won the last four meetings and is unbeaten in six straight with Penn's last win coming in 2014 in Princeton. The last four games have all been 1-0 finals, and no game has been decided by more than one goal since 2012. Princeton has an active shutout streak against the Quakers of 423:45 since Penn's last goal in the series in 2016. It's the longest shutout streak in series history, and Princeton's four-match win streak is the second-longest in series history after Princeton won the first six from 1980-92 (the teams did not meet from 1983-89). The only active player to score a goal in the series is Princeton's Marissa Hart, who had the goal in last season's win but has missed this season due to injury. Penn's Laurence Gladu is the only active keeper to play in the series, playing in last season's game.
On the plus side: If Princeton can get a win or a tie against Penn, it would clinch a winning season for the team, which would be Princeton's 10th straight winning season. That would match Princeton's longest streak of winning seasons in program history, along with 10 in a row from 1997 through 2006.
Posting zeroes: Princeton goalkeepers Ella Gantman and Tyler McCamey have combined to author six shutouts this season. When Princeton carries a shutout into halftime, the Tigers are 5-0-1 this season, with all six games as those shutouts.Â
Seniors: Of the six players who have started more than 11 games for the Tigers heading into the weekend, four are seniors, mostly in the backfield in Kamryn Loustau, Morgan Wiese and Gracyn Kuerner, with midfielder/forward Grace Sherman also in that group. All five available seniors have been key players this season, with keeper Ella Gantman splitting time with sophomore Tyler McCamey. Senior Marissa Hart has not played this season due to injury.Â
Returners: While the defense will feel a graduation impact, Princeton is able to return the scorers of 22 of the team's 23 goals this season, led by rookie Pietra Tordin (eight) and sophomore Heather MacNab (six). If Tordin finishes the season as the team's leading scorer, she'd be the first freshman to do that since Tyler Lussi '17 in 2013. If Tordin can get to double figures in goals, she'd be the fifth Tiger rookie to score 10 in a season, along with Lussi, who had 10 in 2013, Mimi Asom '19, who had 12 in 2015, Linda DeBoer '86, who had 12 in 1982, and Susan Mooney '85, who had 13 in 1981.Â
From the opening whistle: Of the 22Â goals Princeton has allowed this season, 16 have come in the first half. When Princeton allows a first-half goal, Princeton's opponents have won seven of the 10Â games. Princeton has outshot opponents overall in 13 of 16 games this season and on goal in 11 of 16Â games with one game even in shots on goal. Princeton's total shot advantage on the season stands at 280-150 and 111-72 on goal.Â
On Penn: The Quakers will be looking to snap a four-game skid that has seen each of the four games decided by one goal. Each of Penn's last seven games has been a tie or decided by one goal, as has 13 of the team's 15 games this season, including all six of the Quakers' Ivy games. Seven Penn players have scored a goal this season, with Sizzy Lawton leading with four goals. Laurence Gladu (2-4-7, 1.09 GAA) has played most of the team's minutes in goal.Â
Stat rankings: Princeton is ranked 16th in the nation in corner kicks per game at 6.87 and 26th in shots per game at 17.53. Penn stands 25th in corners at 6.57 per game.
