Fillier Has Three-Point Night as Four Tigers Score in Win over Syracuse
November 11, 2022 | Women's Ice Hockey
Sarah Fillier had a three-point night and tied the team lead with three goals on the new season as one of four Princeton players to score in a 4-2 win over Syracuse Friday night at Baker Rink.
Just more than six minutes into the game, Fillier put in a rebound on a Solveig Neunzert to open the scoring.
With six-plus minutes to go in the first period, Dominique Cormier took a pass from Fillier and scored her first goal of the season with a blast from near the top of the circle to Syracuse netminder Arielle DeSmet's right.
Less than two minutes later, Emerson O'Leary poked the puck free from a Syracuse skater and Maggie Connors picked it up near center ice, headed straight toward the goal and deked an Orange defender on the way to her first goal of the season and 62nd goal of her career, the most among active Tigers.
Princeton led 3-0 at the first ice cut, and rookie Katherine Khramtsov joined O'Leary as the second Tiger rookie to score a goal on the new season. Fillier stole the puck in the neutral zone and sent a centering pass to Khramtsov in the slot for the finish.
Princeton outshot Syracuse 66-37 overall and 40-17 on goal. After taking a shutout into the third period for the second game in as many collegiate starts, rookie netminder Taylor Hyland had her first career win, making 15 stops.
Princeton and Syracuse will play the final game of the series Saturday at 3 p.m. at Baker. Tickets are available here.
