Rookie Taylor Hyland made 41 saves in her first career start Saturday afternoon at No. 8/8 Yale, but a pair of third-period goals lifted the Bulldogs over No. 14/13 Princeton in New Haven.
Yale outshot the Tigers 64-27 overall and 43-22 on goal, but Hyland helped keep it scoreless until Yale's Anna Bargman broke through with a rebound goal with seven-plus minutes gone in the third. The Bulldogs' Jordan Ray made it 2-0 seven-plus minutes later.
Yale was Princeton's third top-10 opponent in four games this season over the first two weekends of ECAC Hockey play. The Tigers will have a non-conference weekend against Syracuse at Baker Rink next Friday and Saturday.
