Princeton Set to Send 17 to Midlands Championships

Seventeen wrestlers, including reigning champion at 125 Patrick Glory, are in Princeton's contingent for the Midlands Championships hosted by Northwestern Dec. 29-30 at NOW Arena outside Chicago.
Thursday's first session is set for a 10:30 a.m. ET/9:30 a.m. local start and will include the first two rounds of the main draw as well as wrestlebacks. The event will resume at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. local with quarterfinals and wrestlebacks. Friday will get underway at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. local with the semifinals, seventh-place match and consolations, and the first-, third- and fifth-place matches will be in the final session starting at 7:05 p.m. ET/6:05 p.m. local. Thirty-five Division I wrestling programs are set to compete at the event, with Princeton as one of nine EIWA teams competing.

Despite the Midlands' return coming after a pandemic hiatus since 2019, nearly half of the Princeton 17 will have competed in at least one Midlands, and Glory, Marshall Keller, Quincy Monday, and Travis Stefanik, all 2022 NCAA qualifiers, will be making their third Midlands appearance. Glory finished third in his rookie season in 2018 and won at 125 in the last event in 2019, bringing Princeton its third Midlands title all-time, with all three coming between 208 and 2019. Monday made the quarterfinals in 2018 and finished third in 2019. Aidan Conner, Nate Dugan and Sean Pierson give Princeton seven returning Midlands competitors, with all three wrestling at the 2019 event. As a team, Princeton has finished fifth at each of the last two Midlands.
