Men's Golf Team to Open Season at The Prestige at PGA West

A big and challenging field awaits the Princeton men's golf team in the Tigers' spring season opener beginning Monday at The Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
Of the 29 U.S.-based universities competing in the 30-team field, 22 are in the Golfstat top 100, 14 are in the top 50, and three are in the top 10.
No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 5 Pepperdine and No. 7 Texas Tech are those three top-10 teams, along with co-hosts UC Davis and Stanford, in-state competition Cal Poly, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, San Diego State, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Jose State and UCLA. The rest of the teams in the field with the Tigers include Colorado State, Denver, Fairleigh Dickinson, Kansas, Iowa State, LSU, North Texas, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, SMU, TCU, Texas, Vanderbilt, Washington, and Fraser Valley (Canada).
Guy Waterhouse, William Huang, Henry Dubiel, Connor Belcastro and Max Ting are Princeton's five in the scoring lineup. Jake Mayer and Jackson Fretty will compete as individuals at the nearby Coral Mountain Golf Club, which will play 7,145 yards with a par of 72 for the event.

Princeton's five at PGA West will tee off for Monday's first round in the second session, with the first tee times for that grouping at 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET), and Princeton starting from the 10th hole. The Tigers will be in the earlier session for Tuesday's second round, with tee times beginning there at 6:45 a.m. PT (9:45 a.m. ET) Wednesday's third round will also have two sessions, with tee times depending on team standings. The Greg Norman Course measures 7,100 yards with a par of 71 for the event.
The event is the first of four on the spring schedule for the Tigers, who will then compete at the George Mason-hosted Ross Collegiate beginning March 7 at Mid Pines Golf Club.
