Men’s Basketball Earns Senior Night Victory Over Harvard, 74-67

PRINCETON, N.J. – In what was the final time the Princeton University men's basketball team's Class of 2022 would play inside Jadwin Gymnasium, senior Jaelin Llewellyn ensured the Tigers left as victors, scoring a season-high 29 points in a 74-67 triumph over Harvard University Friday night.
Prior to tip-off, a ceremony was held honoring the Tigers' Class of 2022: Llewellyn, Ethan Wright, Drew Friberg, Max Johns, Elijah Barnes, and Charlie Bagin.
Llewellyn's season-high 29 points came on 10-for-198 shooting from the field, and 4-for-9 shooting from three. He also led the Tigers in rebounding with six, and handed out three assists. Wright added 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field and grabbed four rebounds, while Friberg finished with 12 points and three rebounds.
As a team, Princeton shot an efficient 48.1% from the field (25-for-52), and 46.7% from three (14-for-30).
The Tigers started the game with a 6-0 run, courtesy of three-pointers by Llewellyn at and Barnes with 18:18 remaining in the half. Princeton would extend its lead to 14-7 with 15:25 on the clock, following back-to-back three-pointers by Wright and Friberg.
Harvard would battle back, using a 9-0 run of its own to take a 26-21 lead with 7:56 remaining in the half. A layup by Wright stopped the Crimson's run with 7:01 on the clock, making it a 26-23 contest. For the remainder of the half, the two teams would trade baskets; Llewellyn sank a three-pointer with 0:19 on the clock, and the Crimson would take a 38-36 advantage into halftime.
The Crimson opened the second half with a 5-0 run, but a Llewellyn three-pointer with 15:07 left to play sparked an 8-0 that saw Princeton surge ahead, 49-44, following a Llewellyn jumper with 13:52 on the clock.
A pair of Llewellyn free throws followed by a Wright three-pointer gave the Tigers a 54-49 lead with 11:33 remaining, and Friberg helped keep the Tigers in front, 57-52 with his fourth three of the night at 10:03.
Harvard fought back to re-take the lead, 60-59, with 7:56 left to play, but a three-pointer by Llewellyn put Princeton back in front, 62-60, at 7:25. The Tigers then extended their lead to 66-61, following a powerful left-handed dunk by junior Tosan Evbuomwan with 5:58 on the clock.
With assistance from clutch free throw shooting down the stretch, along with another layup by Llewellyn with 0:31 remaining, the Tigers held on for the 74-67 triumph.
