Princeton returns to home water for heavyweight rowing on March 26, hosting Georgetown, Temple and Drexel. Racing begins for the heavies at 8 a.m. with the 1V kicking things off. Each crew will row twice, with a series of 1K races following the 2K competitions. After the Open Women's races which start at 9 a.m., the heavyweights will head back out for more short pieces at approximately 11:30 a.m. for a full day of rowing on Lake Carnegie.
"After missing out on our normal regular season racing in 2020 and 2021, the whole squad is very excited to line up beside some of our traditional competition once again this year," said head coach Greg Hughes. "For most of our team, this will be their first race for Princeton. That is always a thrilling moment and one I am grateful to have back. The team has been working hard and we've made some solid gains but there are some things that can only be learned and experienced through racing. I can't wait to watch our team in action."

The Tigers last competed on home water on May 4, 2019 when Princeton picked up a win over Brown by 3.4 seconds in the Content Cup. Since then, the Tigers saw the 2020 season cancelled entirely due to COVID-19 and spent the 2021 season competing in road regattas which included an eighth place finish at IRAs.
"It is crazy to think the last home race I had on Lake Carnegie was in 2019 when I was a freshman," said senior Eli Kalfaian. "If I have learned anything over the last three years, it is to take advantage of every opportunity while I am at Princeton. I know our team is ready to take on the season and we are pumped to make every single moment count. It has been a long time coming and we have high intentions of starting the season with a bang!"
Saturday is the first of two home regattas for the heavyweights this season, the second coming on April 30 when the Tigers host Brown in a race for the Content Cup.
