Women's Lightweight Rowing Opens 2022 Season Saturday
March 23, 2022 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
The last time we saw the Princeton women's lightweight rowing program in action, the Tigers were winning a national championship with a convincing win at IRAs in May. A abridged scheduled for the Tigers saw the women's lightweight crew win one dual race over Drexel before collecting a pair of medals at the Dad Vail Regatta and eventually lifting the national championship.
This year, the Tigers are on the water in full force with four races leading up to Eastern Sprints and an eventual return to IRAs.
Up first is the Class of 2006 Cup race with Georgetown on March 26 on the Potomac River. Racing begins in the nation's capital at 4 p.m.
Princeton at Georgetown
4:00 PM - Lightweight Women's 2x
4:15 PM - Lightweight Women's V4+
4:30 PM - Lightweight Women's V8+
The two teams have rowed each other since 1999, and the Class of 2006 Cup has been in the balance since the 2007 meeting. Since the Cup has been officially presented, the Tigers have won 12 races to just one for the Hoyas. All-time, the series stands 16-1 in favor of the Tigers. The Hoyas secured their only win in the series in 2018, before Princeton regained the trophy the next year by a 3.2 second margin of victory.
