No. 12 Men’s Track and Field Sets New Program Record in the 400 Meters

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's track and field team had a record-breaking afternoon on day two of the Larry Ellis Invitational, as Michael Phillippy set a new program record in the 400 meters.
Phillippy recorded a time of 46.06, eclipsing the previous record of 46.23 set by Tom Hopkins '14. Also competing in the event was Andersen Dimon (47.72), who placed fourth.
Three Tigers placed in the top-10 in the 100 meters, including Daniel Duncan (10.49) in first, Kaden Reynolds (10.51) in second and Greg Sholars (10.66) in sixth. Meanwhile, Simang'aliso Ndhlovu (10.88) took 20th and Austin Carbone (11.03) was 28th.
Ibrahim Ayorinde turned in a personal best time of 20.74 to take first place in the 200 meters. Following Ayorinde was Kaden Reynolds, who placed fourth with a time of 21.26. That mark places him tenth all-time in school history. Additionally, Jovan Aigbekaen (22.10) placed 21st and Greg Sholars (22.37) took 25th.
William Doyle (54.25) finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles and Chris Paige (54.82) was ninth.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Christian Brown and Jovan Aigbekaen finished fourth and fifth, with times of 14.29 and 14.40 respectively.
In the 4x100 meter relay, the team of Simang'aliso Ndhlovu, Ibrahim Ayorinde, Daniel Duncan and Greg Sholars secured first place with a time of 40.26.
In the discus, Robbie Otal finished first with a toss of 61.30 meters. Following Otal was C.J. Licata, who placed fourth with a personal best distance of 56.60 meters. Rounding out the remaining competitors, Avery Shunneson (49.53 m) was tenth, Tyler Konopka (44.73 m) 21st and Andrei Iosivas (42.84 m) 22nd.
Sondre Guttormsen took first place in the pole vault with a leap of 5.63 meters.
In the high jump, Jeffrey Hollis earned first place with a distance of 2.14 meters. Meanwhile, John Hogan (2.01 m) placed tenth and Sebastian Clatworthy (1.96 m) tied for eleventh.
C.J. Licata placed second in the shot put with a throw of 19.36 meters, while Tyler Konopka (16.18 m) finished tenth.
Aviram Shwarzbard recorded a leap of 7.47 meters in the long jump, good for third place in the event.
In the triple jump, Ilay Furman finished third with a distance of 14.28 meters.
Up next: The Tigers will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia for the Virginia Challenge from April 22 – April 23.
