Crailsheim Merlins Sign Myles Stephens '19

CRAILSHEIM, Germany – Princeton University men's basketball alumni Myles Stephens '19 will continue his professional career with Hakro Merlins Crailsheim in the German Bundesliga, the highest level of basketball in Germany.

The 2022-23 BBL schedule has not yet been released, and Harko Merlins Crailsheim will look to Stephens to help build upon a 2021-22 season where it went 17-17 in the BBL, 8-6 in the FIBA Europe Cup, and 3-1 in the German Cup.

Most recently, Stephens played for Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen in the BNXT League in Belgium. In the 2021-22 season, he averaged 14.9 points per game on 48.2% shooting from the field, along with 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 assists. On May 18, he tied his season-high of 23 points and also pulled down a season-best 12 rebounds, and blocked three shots in a win over the Leuven Bears.

In 2020-21, Stephens played in the Finnish Korisliga for the Vilpas Vikings, where he averaged 12.7 points per game, along with 5.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steal. Stephens' first season of professional basketball was the 2019-20 season, where he averaged 21.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 assists for Oldenburger TB in the German Pro B League.

Stephens was also drafted by the Long Island Nets with the 10th pick in the second round of the 2019 NBA G League draft.

Along with contributing to Princeton's Ivy League title in the 2016-17 season, where he earned Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player and Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year honors, he was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) second team All-District 13 in 2018-19. Stephens was named first team All-Ivy League twice and second team All-Ivy League once along with Ivy League Player of the Week on three different occasions. He was also named Academic All-Ivy League as a senior in 2018-19.

Stephens rewrote the record book during his time at Princeton, as his 1,346 points saw him graduate as the program's 10th-leading scorer. His 509 made field goals ranks eighth in school history and his 105 made three-pointers ranks 18th. He is also 10th all-time in total rebounds, pulling down 561 throughout his career and his 80 blocked shots rank ninth.

 He joins Ryan Schwieger '21 (Rasta Vechta), Devin Cannady '20 (Orlando Magic), Richmond Aririguzoh '20 (Kangoeroes Mechelen), Amir Bell '18 (Brose Bamberg) Spencer Weisz '17 (Hapoel Haifa), Henry Caruso '17 (Donar Groningen), and Ian Hummer '13 (AEK Athens) as Princeton alumni playing professional basketball.
