January 17, 2023 | Men's Track and Field
Reno, NV – Competing against top United States and European vaulters, Sondre Guttormsen vaulted a season best 18-9 (5.71m) at the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nevada on Friday, January 13th in the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center.
After clearing 18-1 and 18-9 on his first attempts, Sondre rose to first place but had three narrow misses at 19-1, which two competitors managed to clear.
A sellout, raucous crowd cheered on vaulters simultaneously at 13 separate vaulting pits, with skills ranging from beginners to international elite.
Guttormsen indicated that he was satisfied with his early season mark, and looks forward to going over 19 feet.
Guttormsen will look to defend his indoor and outdoor NCAA titles later this year.
A great showing for Sondre Guttormsen this past weekend at the 2023 National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nevada!
