Princeton To Face Cornell At Harvard In Ivy Tournament

Princeton's 2-1 overtime win over Yale Friday night wasn't the only dramatic moment for the final regular-season weekend of Ivy League field hockey.
Harvard defeated Cornell 2-1 on a goal with two seconds remaining in regulation to take the league championship and the host role and No. 1 seed in the upcoming Ivy League tournament, while Cornell is now the No. 2 seed. Princeton is the No. 3 seed, followed by fourth-seeded Penn.
The tournament in Cambridge will begin Friday with and Penn at noon, followed by Princeton and Harvard at approximately 3. The winners will meet Sunday at 1 pm in the championship game, and the winner will get the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
How did these seedings come to be?
Harvard finished the season at 7-0, followed by Princeton, Cornell and Penn, who were all 5-2. The three second-place teams were all 1-1 against each other with a loss to Harvard, and the next tiebreaker is goal-differential in the head-to-head games. Cornell defeated Penn 2-0, while Princeton defeated Cornell 3-2 and Penn defeated Princeton 3-2, leaving Cornell at +1, Princeton at 0 and Penn at minus-1.
All tickets for the Ivy tournament will be sold at the gate on the gamedays.
