No. 3 Princeton Defeats No. 4 Stanford to Open Season

With rookies in two of the top three spots in the lineup, the No. 3-ranked Princeton women's squash team turned in a 6-3 win over No. 4 Stanford to open the season on Sunday in Jadwin Gym.
Becoming the first Princeton first-year in five years to start a season opener at the top spot, Zeina Zein made it a sweep of Stanford's Si Ma, winning 11-8, 11-3, 11-7. At the third spot, classmate Emma Trauber also won in three, defeating Miriam Cheng 11-8, 11-3, 11-4.
Sophomore Liyen Teoh was a 3-1 winner at four, and Princeton got sweeps from Katherine Glaser in the sixth spot and Olivia Robinson in the ninth position. In the seventh spot, India Stephenson won two straight elimination games to come back from a 2-1 deficit in games and win in five, with each of those two elimination games going long, at 14-12 and 13-11.
Princeton will continue the new season next Saturday with a visit from Williams in what will be the Tigers' final match of 2023.
