MBWA Names Caden Pierce Player of the Week

NEW YORK – The Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) announced its first round of weekly awards Tuesday morning and sophomore Caden Pierce of the Princeton University men's basketball was named Division I Player of the Week. The award is Pierce's second honor of the week, as he was also named Ivy League Player of the Week.
The award is for games played Nov. 27 – Dec. 3, and encompass players from 21 Met area schools across Division I. Pierce led the Tigers to a 2-0 week, first defeating Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, 85-71, on Nov. 29 then Furman, 70-69, on Dec. 2 inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
On the week, Pierce averaged 22.0 points-per-game on 56.7% shooting along with 9.0 rebounds. He also handed out six assists and recorded four steals along with three blocks.
In the Tigers' victory over Bucknell Pierce finished with 22 points on 9-for-15 shooting, three rebounds, three blocks and two assists. He followed that performance up with 22 points on 8-for-15 shooting, 15 rebounds, four assists and three steals against the Paladins. The double-double was Pierce's fourth of the season and the 11th of his career.
The award is Pierce's third of the season, as he was also named Ivy League Player of the Week on Nov. 13.
