St. Lawrence Takes Regular-Season Finale as Tigers Learn ECAC Playoff Opponent
February 18, 2023 | Women's Ice Hockey
A pair of second-period goals put St. Lawrence on top as the Princeton women's hockey team fell 3-1 to St. Lawrence Saturday afternoon in upstate New York in the regular-season finale for both teams.
With the outcome and other results around the league, Princeton finished in the seventh spot in the ECAC Hockey standings and will take on second-seeded Colgate. The best-of-three series is set to start Friday and continue Saturday with the if-necessary game next Sunday, all on the Raiders' home ice.
St. Lawrence's second-period goals came from Shailynn Snow and Abby Hustler, first with 11 minutes to go in the period and then with less than five minutes to go. The 2-0 lead stood until the third period was more than halfway through, when Maggie Connors intercepted a pass during a Saints power play and got the puck back from Sarah Fillier, taking advantage of the breakaway for a shorthanded goal to pull Princeton within 2-1 with more than eight minutes left in the game.
The goal was the 76th of senior Connors' career, putting her in a three-way tie for ninth in program history, and the helper was the 86th in junior Fillier's career, tying her for fifth in program history.
That was as close as St. Lawrence let the Tigers get, as Taylor Lum tacked on a Saints goal with two minutes to go for the 3-1 final.
