Ivy Play Set to Open This Weekend for Princeton Softball

The Ivy League season is set to begin this weekend for the Princeton softball team when the Tigers host Yale for a three-game series Saturday and Sunday.

On the Tigers: Senior Adrienne Chang leads the team at the plate with a .347 average and four extra-base hits. Nine players have split the team's 22 extra-base hits so far on the season. All four Tiger arms have seen innings over the team's first 16 games, and senior Alexis Laudenslager leads the team with a 3.71 ERA over 39 2/3 frames, striking out 53 batters for a Ks-per-seven of 9.4.
On the Bulldogs: Yale (5-9) counts Willa Ferrer as its leading hitter at .382, including a team-high six extra-base hits and co-leading the team with three homers. Emma Taylor has thrown a team-high 38 innings and a 3.32 ERA.
Against Yale: Princeton swept last season's series against the Bulldogs and has won 13 of the last 14 against Yale since 2015.
Strong returning group: Princeton returns seven All-Ivy League selections from a year ago, including Ivy Pitcher of the Year Alexis Laudenslager and Ivy Rookie of the Year Sophia Marsalo, plus Ivy Coach of the Year Lisa Van Ackeren. Princeton's returning first-team All-Ivy honorees last season were Laudenslager, Marsalo (first base), Serena Starks (outfield), Allison Ha (utility) and Adrienne Chang (designated player). Grace Jackson (shortstop) and Lauren Sablone (outfield) are second-team All-Ivy returnees.
